Are GRP doors suitable for older garages?

They can be, but the existing opening needs to be checked first. Older garages may have uneven openings or structural issues that need attention before a new door is fitted. A survey can identify any work needed and confirm the most suitable installation approach.

Can the colour be changed later?

The finish should be considered before ordering because changing the appearance later is not the same as repainting a standard painted surface.

Do GRP doors suit traditional houses?

Yes. The appearance of a garage door can complement the property. A suitable finish can help a newer door sit comfortably alongside older brickwork, rendered walls, traditional windows or other exterior features.

What happens during a garage door survey?

The survey allows the fitter to inspect the opening, take measurements and discuss how you use the garage. They can also check the condition of the existing frame and surrounding structure. This helps identify any issues that could affect the installation before work begins. You can also ask questions about suitable door styles, operation and fitting options during the visit.

Is a showroom visit useful?

Seeing doors in person can make the choice easier. You can compare finishes and get a better sense of the look and build quality than photographs alone can provide.

BENEFITS OF GRP GARAGE DOORS

A well-chosen garage door should suit the house and withstand regular use. GRP garage doors give homeowners a practical option when they want a smart-looking door without demanding upkeep. GRP, or glass-reinforced plastic, combines resin with glass fibres. The result is a strong door material that works well in domestic garages, including homes where the garage forms part of the front of the property.

Another advantage is choice. Garage Door Associates can help you choose finishes and colours that complement your home's exterior. A good match can make the garage feel like part of the property rather than an afterthought.

The door itself is only part of the job. Good fitting matters too. A properly installed door should open and close as intended, with components correctly aligned and adjusted. Garage Door Associates has more than 30 years of experience fitting garage doors and backs its workmanship with a two-year guarantee.

Regular care can also help keep your door working as it should. For advice on fiber glass garage doors, including garage door servicing and repair requirements, speak to the team about the condition of your existing door. For homes across East Sussex, local advice means you can talk through your garage, preferences and budget before choosing a door. A showroom visit lets you see available options in person.

Call Garage Door Associates to arrange a free survey or visit the showroom. The team can answer your questions and help you choose a suitable door.
